Classic Half-Day IceWalk Tour

Discover the world of ice with professional ACMG certified guides. This classic half-day interpretive tour explores the ice features on the lower glacier. You will enjoy superb views of the Canadian Rockies while seeing deep crevasses, waterfalls that cascade into the depths of the ice, and you’ll learn about the formation of glaciers and how they shape the landscape.

  • Departures: 9:45AM and 2:00PM
  • Hike Profile: 3 hours, 5 km (3 miles) round trip, 200 m (650 feet). Moderate difficulty with steep sections of rocky trail to approach the glacier.

Full-Day Deluxe IceWalk Tour

Experience the Athabasca Glacier in depth with professional ACMG certified guides on this full-day interpretive adventure. This immersive tour explores the entire tongue of the glacier, leading you toward dramatic icefalls at the head of the valley. Along the way, you’ll discover towering seracs, sweeping views of the Canadian Rockies, and gain a deeper understanding of how this powerful icefield was formed and continues to shape the landscape. Lunch is enjoyed on the glacier, surrounded by ice and peaks.

  • Departures: 10:15 AM
  • Hike Profile: Approximately 6 hours, 8.5 km (5 miles) round trip, 330 m (1,000 feet) elevation gain. Moderate to challenging difficulty with steep sections and varied, undulating terrain.
